"Best Mexican food I've had in Charleston yet. Tried a lot of their dishes and have enjoyed every single one! Soup comes in a crazy big bowl and is fresh!!! The food here is worth every penny and are in big portions...."

"You can get a belly full of.."OH YEAH"..here....All the combo plates have more than ample portions, and served piping hot. Tacos, Enchiladas, Burritos, Tortillas, all the goodies that you can think of mexican are on the menu. Chips with fresh made salsa (very good),are brought to the table when you're seated  to get the taste buds excited for the main feast. And I think some of the best guacamole around, that's made "fresh to order". They have daily lunch, and dinner specials, that are written on a chalk board as you enter the door. There's a very small bar that seats about 5, and I want to say 4--2 seater tables. Plenty of room in the other two dining areas if you want to be in the mix. Outside seating is available too. It's my favorite Mexican place in the W. Ashley area.......Por lo menos para este gringo..Haha"

"It's pretty hard to find a reason to give a four-star review to a strip mall Mexican place, but in the case of the Rio Grande, it's hard to find a reason not to.  This has become one of our "go-to" places, since both the service and the food are consistently above average, even for large group orders.  I've heard a few complaints that this is an "Americanized" Mexican restaurant, but in my experience it's the best Mexican in West Ashley."

"The first thing I noticed after walking into this restaurant  is the extremely detailed murals. Many of them take up an entire wall and depict characters with "Rio Grande Takeout" and tequila or martinis. Many are being chased by wild dogs, some are cow tipping in a distant field, and cows are getting loose from the herd only to get caught in a river."

Regarding food:

I ordered a chicken tostada and it arrived hot and delicious. My husband ordered a chicken fajita quesadilla platter. Not typically being a fan of Mexican food, I was pleasantly surprised to find he was very pleased despite his review of how quickly his food was prepared. Regardless, he loved it and had no repercussions later.

Thanks oodles for the amazing food, Rio Grande. We loved it!"
